Our baby was 5.5 months when we started the remote program. He was waking up regularly in the middle of the night, ready to party for a two-hour chunk. We wanted him to have a solid 6 month old sleep schedule, so we booked Jen as our baby sleep consultant.
A few times he had a second awake window. To get him to sleep, we had to do a lot of jiggling, rocking, and popping the dummy in (which would make him sleepy). Then at times, when he had fallen asleep, the dummy would come out, and he’d wake up searching for it.
Ahead of starting, we were able to get him down in the cot for sleeps, but it took a bit to get him there. Additionally, he had feeding issues so his sleep was definitely tied to that. Being able to work within a schedule that went off his cues, log his feeds and see the patterns really helped us tailor the best program for him. We learnt he needs a bit of time after waking up in order to take a bigger feed.
We also changed formulas, which made a big difference. Perhaps the biggest contributor to helping him sleep through the nights was the dream feeds. Ultimately, we established a very effective routine around preparing our baby for sleep and recognising the best time to do it.
I really recommend this program. It’s brought some predictability back to all our lives, which we were really craving. Who knew that there’s actually a hack for the 6 month old sleep schedule?!
