Let us start off by saying Jen deserves a million gold stars! If you’re on the fence in terms of booking her, do it!
We connected with her after finding her via a desperate Google search for top sleep consultants in Sydney after a particularly tough few nights. Our 18.5 week old daughter was previously sleeping 9-11 hours overnight and then the 4 month regression/progression hit HARD. It really threw us for a loop as she was waking every 45 minutes to 2 hours. We realized our methods were not sustainable long term and needed a big change.
We completed the online questionnaire and to our surprise Jen called us (on a Friday evening) within just a few hours of submission.
We used this milestone as an opportunity to completely change how we approached our daughter’s sleep. It is fair to say we had a pretty aggressive wish list in terms of what we wanted to achieve:
- no more dummy
- no more patting/rocking to sleep and then transferring after 20 minutes
- transition from Snoo to cot
- avoid being trapped in the dark nursery all day extending naps
- teaching her to self settle for naps and bedtime
- achieve sleeping through the night again
In addition to our wish list above, our daughter started rolling a few days into the program so we also had to transition her out of the swaddle. This was a cold turkey approach and a big deal as she’d had arms down in a double swaddle for 19 weeks!
We are thrilled to report that with Jen’s help, our daughter learned to self settle quickly, began sleeping through the night again with ease and adjusted to arms out like a champ. The dummy removal was also not a problem. In addition, Jen encouraged the use of the carrier (which our daughter NEVER slept in previously) and this has allowed us nap freedom.
Our daughter is still a daytime catnapper and requires us to extend her, however Jen has shared the educational science behind this and we now know a baby’s brain doesn’t develop to link daytime cycles until about 6 months of age so not long to go.
